I think the reason that Starbucks is everywhere is because no other Coffee Cafe is expanding to more stores. So they have no competition. Someone needs to give them competition!

Hun, take a deep, long breath...and then think. Maybe the name of the drink on the home page is satire due to the overwhelmingly stupid and pretentious names SB gives to their beverages.

Can ANYONE tell me why every morsel of SB food (pastries, cookies) tastes like stale rat poo? I know they go for the natural ingrediants and blah, blah , blah BUT please before you think about a chocolate chip cookie with your spiced frozen fat free soy dark choclate raspberry mochachino latte.....THINK AGAIN

bob brown, check your state laws.you can say no.if they do ask you (as a company) to test, it has to be in the realm of you having said that you have a dependency problem and you want help from your employer to get over it through a progam. Dru, they treat their farms the way they treat their employees. Red Devil, have ya gotten no clue from this website and why the drink is that way on the homepage?

Hey Everyone, I have just quit my job at Starbucks after doing 3 shifts and a training course where I learnt that 'bucks pays the coffee farmers sweet f.a AND uses slave labour to gather the beans!DON'T SUPPORT THEM. They exploit people and want to take over the World. My message to Germany: Don't let Starbucks open in your beautiful country, they will ruin small businesses and continue the wide spread world domination of Corporate America gone mad.

Two things, does anyone have any information on- A. Howard Schultz and his crony's relationship with the Israel...???... I've heard rumours... B. Starbucks lacing their coffee with speed... C. Finally, although very predictable, SBUX involvement with drug smuggling in Latin America and Indonesia.

So I called the hot line coz I had a mentally unstable idiotic shift manager after me. The result: my hours got cut and the area manager showed up to give me some BS feedback after I had clocked out and was in my own unpaid time. They are sending this duetto cd roms to partners mail boxes so you can train at home with your pc and not pay you for it. I am not racist, but I can't believe that all the new partners belong to the same ethnic group (together with the person who hires them)and are taking over the hours of other partners who have been there for months...hmm coincidence?

i currently work at one of the *$'s in wichita, Ks sadly to say. I have experienced the worst management ever. She gets people fired for no reason at all. Pretty much she is covering her butt because if the truth gets out. She is out of the coffee buz. To keep your job you have to lick her ***** you know what to get anywhere. Sadly to say a couple of the female shifts do. I laugh because I am way younger then them and relize its just COFFEE for gods sake!!! It is really sad that some of the OLD customers don't come back because of the management. They HATE the manager!!! It's so sad that they know her car and if they see her car they don't come in or though the drive-thru. I think that *$'s Co. need to really look in to the management of the stores in Wichita, Ks. They are really pretty new and people are already starting to hate the partners because of management. I personally think that you should have a college degree of some sort in order to be a manager. I'm not saying that people that don't have degress are not qualified, but it would really help out the hiring process. We have some here that are basically white trash and can't seem toget their lazy butts in gear. I had to voice my opinon on the *$'s Co

First of all, whoever made this website is not very smart, if you are going to bash Starbucks, at least say the drink on the home page right, there is no such thing as a mocha latte, they are seperate drinks dumbass, as for another thing, I think you all are just jealous that you can't afford to even go to Starbucks and get your own custom made drinks, don't hate the company, it is the consumers who are making us rich. Thanks! A random shift leader @ Starbucks.

starbucks is about to open several hundred stores in germany, my home country. im kind of concerned about this, because many of our own coffee-houses will not be able to survive the massive marketing and aggressive management of starbucks. in my opinion this expansion of starbucks is modern imperialism which will destroy the uniqeness and the pluralism of our coffehouse-scene. i hate starbucks!

Formally Loyal Employee, What part of the country did you work in?I ask because it sounds like something that happened in my area.My manager told me that on my own *private*, *non-work* time, I wasn't allowed in my old store or she'd fire me and asked me about a *private* email conversation off of my **home computer** that I had with a friend.I've since had to close my email account and open another one at my cost. All because she wrongfully fired a store manager and I asked why.She told the partners if they talked to me, she'd fire them and to call 911 if I came into the store. She's also bipolar and has similar behavior that you talk about.I'm wondering if this is the same the person.Thanks.

Dear ***** I'm sorry to hear your troubles because i know that what your saying is true. i have had five managers in my starbucks past and four out of the five have fit your description to a tee. one manager I had bought alcohol for a minor at a store meeting (the labels were ripped off and she denies it but why did she rip off the labels) She was not fired after five employees reported her for inapropriate conduct. These employees were threatened and told to shut up. i was fired even though I didn't work there any more and she is still manager. this is a person who screamed at employees, slept with customers, was chronicly late, had bipolar disorder or appeared to when she'd scream at you and threaten your job one day and try to hug you another and gave out cupons to her dad and boyfriend for doing odd jobs around the store. She also left money unattended over night and the partner who found it kept quiet. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO MANAGE STARBUCKS. ENJOY FORTUNE 500....ENJOY. By the way the buisness conduct hot line only helps them figure out who to fire.......that is the absolute truth. GET OUT........i have found a better job and love it......you can too.......

I know this is long but I would read it if I were you..... I feel it necessary to share my experiences here. in response to the first posting about wearing perfume as a partner of starbucks.I worked in Seattle for 4 years and as quoted from the human resourses manual you MAY NOT wear any perfume or cologne on shift. You of all people should know that the nature of coffee is to absorb the smells around it. Hense perfume stores putting coffee beans in little plates for you to smell in between perfumes. So wearing any lotion, perfume or cologne is forbidden because coffee sucks up the smell and can taste like what your wearing. My second point is that Starbucks lies about its product. About two years ago they started making the Creme based blended beverages. They advertised and pushed its employees to advertise them as low fat. We do make them with a low fat milk base BUT..... the fat contents are in the range of 26-34 grams of saturated fat. And thats not in the biggest size. The powder subtance we add has the saturated fat and sugar so the company was getting all these stupid customers who were buying them under false pretenses. The company profits off of peoples inability to make good food choices. i know that everyone can make up their own mind on what they put in their mouth and are solely responsible for it BUT.....Starbucks should advertise with out trying to attract people by labeling drinks as lowfat knowing that they are nothing of the sort. The Eggnog mix they use at christmas is called lowfat or whole. But the lowfat mix of eggnog and milk has about 37+ grams of saturated fat. How is that low fat? Last and most importantly.....when I left the company I was run out of town on a rail so they could protect a manager who was participating in shady dealings with an underage employee. Nothing is proven but either way this person had made some bad choices. I had nothing to do with the situation, no longer worked at that store and would have taken credit for any atempt to stop it if I had.Butinstead this manager lied to my superiors and threatened my best friend who was also an employee with loss of her job. They used her to try and prove i had commited wrong doing through a PRIVATE phone call we had. the company went with this manager's lies because this manager happened to make the company money at the store she was located at. STARBUCKS WILL FALL SOMEDAY BECAUSE THEY EMPLOYEE SH*T*Y MANAGERS WHO MAKE GOD AWFUL DECISIONS BUT KNOW HOW TO MANIPULATE OTHERS, INTIMIDATE PEOPLE WHO WORK UNDER THEM AND BRING IN CASH FLOW. SO NO ONE HAS TO WORRY ABOUT THEM BEING AROUND AS THE EVIL CORPERATE GIANT FOREVER........I wouldn't touch a job with them with a ten foot pole now. the politics is bullsh*t. i found it at every store I worked at and that was four stores. To back up my story when i filed for unemployment benefits and Starbucks was contacted for their side of the story they were unable to prove misconduct on my part. Quoted verbatim from the letter i recieved with my first check. KARMA IS A BI*#H!!!!!!!!!!

I just happened upon this site by accident and was reading a post about people talking about smokers. I'm currently a 3 yr starbucks employee and the four stores I've worked at it has NEVER been illegal to smoke outside our stores inside yes because of California law. Only rule is please don't wear your apron. So maybe it is just the management. Oh and by the way you can wear perfume and cologne just not an over the top amount not b/c it interferes with the smell of the shop but b/c it is just nice to your co workers.

I know im not the only store who marks cups with names, tome the whole idea of invading my customer's personal space ticks me off. I can't believe the stupidity we have to do to get our paychecks... Now its 5:30am and your just on your way to work. You cant see straight and you stop to get a latte, and then the guy asks you your name...what in the world is that...i would think i was still dreaming i went to panara the other day for lunch and they asked my name and it was printed on my reciept, it freaked me out! hey orin and howard, get a fricken life!! people just want their coffee they dont want a relationship, leave them alone, they are on the other side of the counter! moreover, the name thing creates lines. i live in a very diverse community and people dont have names like joe and anne. i cant even pronounce most of them. If its still going to be three minutes in and out then cut the name on the cup, it wastes time!!!!!!!!!

Ok- i know all corporations have their faults- but isn't it interesting that Starbucks seems to be the olny one with a web site entitled "I hate Starbucks"- you don't see a I hate Disney web site, now do you? So, if there are any more of these sites on other companies, I'd like to know.

Isn' t the coffee expensive enough ? Don't people see the gimmick behind prepaid cards? The effin Starbucks coffee is expensive enough by itself, then they want consumers to, in effect, pay more by "allowing" them to prepay for the stuff. Don't people who want these prepaid cards realize that until they use up their final dollars on each card they are actually "loaning" money to Starbucks interest free? "Here, hold my money until I spend it with you." Hell, I'll do that for them. Then, as the article suggests, when someone purchases a prepaid card, Starbucks is also actually selling people their "next" cup of coffee. Of course, you're going to go to a Starbuck's for your next cup as you have their card and you would be wasting money by going anywhere else. So, they end up in an endless loop, shelling out money to SB's over and over again. Yeah, for each cardholder, it may not be a lot, but mutiply that by the number of saps that already pay too much for their coffee at Starbucks, and it'll add up to millions in "interest free" loans. Yikes! Brilliant marketing by SB's, but people, wake up! I was talking to someone who works at SB's and I asked them how they justify to their customers the high prices they charge. Well, not surprisingly, she was brainwashed. She says that they are sent to training and part of it actually covers answering this question. 1) "They look for the most expensive beans", yada, yada. Well, as I told her, they can tell her to say that to customers, but that doesn't mean they actually do it; 2) "They spend a lot on training their staff to ensure it's the best" - Well, let's see, is that really important to me when my brain tells me I want a cup of cofee - NO! 3) They don't lay off people and provide great benefits. We'll that's good for employees, but what does that do for me as a customer? That the same person that waited on me last month will know my name and possibly what I ordered? Oh, that makes me feel so special! Here, I'm not paying enough, take some more of my money. I never knew I was providing a retirement program for people when I considered buying a cup of coffee. 4) Oh, and does that extra money also allow them to go into neghborhoods and be able to afford to drive mom and pop and independent coffee houses out of business? 5) And another pet peeve. The customers pay the "extra" money, and Starbucks makes a donation to a cause of their choice. Hello, people! Think about this. a)You give Starbucks "extra" money, they give it away to causes of THEIR choice (not yours, even though it's YOUR money); b)THEY get the tax deduction for the contribution, you do NOT; and c) they get the gratitude of the community for the donation, you DO NOT! So, why not buy from somewhere else, keep the "donation" money for yourself, invest it in your kids, family or donate it to the organization of YOUR choice? And then YOU get the tax deduction! I hope all of you who do frequent SB's feel real extra special about yourselves and keep telling yourself that you deserve that extra special treatment you get at Starbucks. Here's to ya!
