Ok, a new day has dawned on IHateStarbucks.com.
I no longer want to keep hacking the old, tired php on the site, so this is what I propose. These messages will remain up for all eternity. In addition, there is a new Guest book. | Soda Pop, Starbucks is the Walmart of coffee business. They push out the independent owner. It has nothing to with quality, because Starbucks items are not good, it has everything to do with taking over markets.*That's* how they can say they are "the premier purveyor of the finest coffee in the world".They crush their established competitions with bells and whistles. |

| I am a student working on my Master's degree. My fellow students and I chose to study Starbucks because we thought they would be forthcoming with company info. We soon found out getting info is harder than getting in to Fort Knox!! Help!! Can anyone tell me approximately (no need for specifics) how much the various store positions make (barista, shift, assistant mgr and store mgr)? I am doing salary comparisons between Starbucks and other types of stores. You can send me an email at libra101964@yahoo.com. Thanks for helping me!!!! |

| Why is it that when Starbucks opens near an independent coffee store, that independent coffee store soon fails and ceases business? Is it because Starbucks is better or is it because they were really not that good after all? I think some of you clowns need to ask yourself that. Have you ever seen some of that old coffee in some of those bins those independent guys use? Filth. If you want caffeine get it from a Pepsi. |

| tammy: employees steal product merchandise machines tips other employee's personal items and customer's personal items. partners are stealing time from the company when they hang out not working and stay past their scheduled time because they want the hours but there's no customer reason to stay and managers steal time from partners when they do payroll to meet their bonus. |

| I am a Business and Economics student and am wanting to do a study into ethics of a globalised business. I've read an article in class about the treatment of staff at Starbucks, but nothing on the coffee growers in third world countries and how they're treated.
If anyone has any articles or website links that could prove useful, it would be much appreciated :) |

| Too bad all of Starbucks competitors that are posting on this site need Starbucks so they can come up with recipes for their own business!! Everyone is entitled to whether or not they like Starbucks, but you can\'t deny that to remain competitive other coffee shops NEED Starbucks and it\'s eSpresso for crying out loud not eXpresso!! |

| I HAAATE STARBUCKS!!! I live in Chicago, and we have a lot of really good local coffee places, where the people are nice, and the stuff they have is ONE OF A KIND!!! We've lost about 20 local coffee houses in the last two years, because of Starbucks. My BEST FRIEND works at a local coffee place, and they have a Starbucks across the street! I'm buying coffee, hot cocoa, muffins, and all kinds of good stuff everyday!!!
And you think if they're trying to drive places outta business, they'd lower their coffee prices! One reason as to why the prices are high... MANIPULATION!!! The prices are high to make you think that if you're having expensive coffee, you're having it from a super far away country!!! NICE TRY!!!
DIE STARBUCKS!!! |

| I do not believe any of the "dating" thing went on in our store. The most that went on was "favoritism" by the store manager. I do think that there was the only male shift supervisor might have been dating or "screwing" some of the barista females.
So, what else conspires in the stores? theft of tips? theft of products? |

| I am still interested in hearing more about others that have worked for Starbucks in the past or are still working for Starbucks and are unhappy.
I know that a few have mentioned their disapointment and the things that have gone on within their stores that they worked at or work at.
But, I am interested in knowing more about baristas who were promised the opportunity to move up to Shift Supervisor; Shift Supervisors who were promised to move into a Management position; partners in general who were told they would receive more training; had correction action plans that were not true or justified; fired for little reasons; AND the reasons were NOT because of absences, tardies, lack of availability, accuracy of making drinks or knowing the coffees, etc. |

| i would like to say taht star bucks is RIDICULOUS. they are nothing but a bunch greedy bastards who try to run indpendent coffee shops out of business. It's horrible. And to top it off, there coffee taste like garbage and dirt in a cup. And the espresso, don't get me all heated on the espresso. I would like to say it is horrible what they are trying to do to people. Some of the owners of these indpendent coffee shops live off there stores and Starbucks is so popular and people are to scared to try something different...so of course they going to go to the horrible satan spawn starbucks. Starbucks tends to remind me of the Tobacco industry. Just giving the public horrible garbage to infect your bodies and dont care about anyone, just as long as they get the money. |

| I too hate starbucks!
1. their espresso is disgusting. They know not the delicate are of making espresso!
2.They open their stores right next to independant coffee shops to run them out of business.
3.they are everywhere.
4.they strive to be the top selling coffee house in the industry, but know just barely enough about coffee to open a store, and not any important information to actually make a quality drink.
5. the only "almost good" (i use that term loosely) drinks they have, contain no coffee....everyone can make sugar taste good. *$ that. |

| Robert (whose message I think is the sixth or seventh on the archive list right now) asks a very good question: What IS the point of a coffee shop if making your own damn coffee at home would seem to any rationally-minded person the more convenient option? Indeed. I’ve wondered the same thing myself. Well, to start, no one wants regular coffee anymore (I know, because I've worked in a Starbucks for three painfully long years now): it's not about coffee, Robert; now it's all about lattes made with organic/soy milk, which they would like to have steamed to 150 degrees, with 16 to 17-second shots, three and a half pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup, 2 sweet and lows, and a partridge in a f****** pear tree [and no foam]. It's about mocha coconut frapuccinos, that they have to have blended to just the right consistency, or they'll die and oh, will there ever be hell to pay if there's too much whip cream on top.
Today, the purpose of a coffee shop is not to serve coffee, but rather to give the American consumer a fair opportunity to make every Barista's life just short of dreadful.
Oh yes, and it also doubles as a pastime for people who like to pretend they have more money than they actually do. The pseudo-upper-class customers are not too bad, though, because they are an invaluable source of amusement. Based on long-term observation, I’ve learned approximately 50% of our clientele believe that in order to appear wealthy, one need only enter the store on their cell phone, order a drink with at least four unnecessary modifications, and be as rude and condescending as humanly possible to the unfortunate Barista stuck at the register. Some blow their cover and forget to take the Wal-Mart price tags of the back of their jeans, but others are not as transparent. And some actually are too rich for their own good and really are natural born assholes.
At any rate, no one wants coffee, Robert, not after 11:00am. Whatever their reasons for coming in, I assure you it has nothing to do with wanting a caffeine fix. I believe most tolerable people actually do make their own coffee at home; everyone else (those "dull, stiff people that inhabit coffeehouse hellholes") comes to us. |

| ashley, call the compliance person in your zone and discuss tips and also call the business standard line so you have a backup, you don't have to give your name to them if you don't want to. the person who said they saw someone with the tips is probably the person taking them. tips cannot be taken out of the store, even for a coin service and have to be done at the manager's workstation while on the clock in view of everyone. kelly, that's b.s. starbucks is in the process of deleting assistant manager positions. a lot of assistants are being given the boot for no solid reasons. has anyone noticed that "investigations" never include the partner being investigated? if they booted you for talking about the playboy, then they should fire a lot of stores for having it in the backroom. espi, tell them you're hindu and they're violating your religious rights. tammy, i forgot to post my name. i don't know what to suggest. i was hoping there is a way for employees in different states to address one company with all of the same illegal and unfair practices. |

| Hey, the comment about filing from different states, (the one who didn't submit their name), what is your situation and what do you suggest? Do you or did you work for Starbucks? and if so, what is or was your position? |

| I was just recently fired for talking about the Starbucks Playboy. Well I can not be rehired. I was an assistant manager, just got out of RMT like 90 days ago. They spent all that money on training me and then they go and fire me for talking about the playboy. It wasn't even like i was on the floor i was outside on my half and i was smoking with a customer that i knew, well thought i knew, and i had told him about the playboy and asked if he wanted to see it. Well he said no and i thought nothing of it, well a couple of days later my DM came in to the store and sat me down and took about 3.5 minutes to explain and suspended me. She told me that there would be an investigation on me and that they are bringing in partner asset protections, and Sheila Scholtz(HR). Two days later i met with my DM and she handed me my final pay check and said bye bye. I was fired for speaking about the playboy and violating the fair business act of some year. So my suggestion to all of the partners out there DON'T SAY A THING ABOUT THE PLAYBOY.
They really mean business. |
