I worked for Starbucks (a.k.a Star*ucks) for over three years and all I can say is that it is nothing but corporate bull. At one time ( and i hate to say it) I loved Star*ucks. But things have changed and i hope a scandal as big as Enron screws that company into bankruptcy!!!!!

I worked at a starbucks and got fired. They actually have these secret shoppers to spy on their employees. So I ended up getting fired for having a few drinks while at work and now they claim I owe them $300. They are an incredibly evil corporation.

I bought a frickin water bottle and the lid is retarded. Oh my god! I also think they sprinkle crack on their coffee because it's so addictive. And you know, Crack is Whack!!! All the employees of Starbucks should just get back on their Short Bus and go home!

Quite a witty site -- I applaud your courage. Four and a half cheers for a different opinion! As for Starbucks, (add in any other corporate giants name) well, I wish I had the money they are making, but at what price? Every strip mall in America is beginning to look alike, and having one Starbucks across the street from another sure doesn\'t help. We keep talking about valuing \"diversity,\" but do we really? Why else would these monstrous companies be so successful?

I am currently involved in ligitation with Starbucks. I'd love to chat with others in the same situation and hear there tales and issues. I was terminated for "unsatisfactory performance"......let me translate, my boss violated company policy and I wouldn't lie for her...and I've got the documentation to prove it!

Starbucks coffee is atrocious, First of all I get a raging headache, the taste is eqivalent to that of well should I say what suppose pig shit would taste like and finally the people who seem to love this crap are souless shallow wonders (Mostly stupid white americans) who lack any creativity and freedom whatsoever. Enough said.

I just read that Staryucks will be opening up locations inside of Kroger supermarkets! Lord, they spread worse than SARS! On the plus(?) side, the article also said that they will be staffed by Kroger employees.

Starbuckhater...it has to do with legal issues. You can\'t take pictures inside any chain store really...because then the company can't control what the image is used for. Different stores will vary in how tightly they enforce that rule...I've been known to let people take pictures of friends for instance, but never anything involving the menu board. Sounds like you just found two tighta**ed stores.

To the fellow with his own shop with the Bucks opening 4 doors down....We're in the same situation right now. The best thing you can do is make sure you and your employees can give the best customer service possible - it does count for something these days. When people realize the difference they'll head your way.

Starbucks has the best water I have ever tasted. They triple filter it or something and it rocks. Now, why can't everything be as great as their tapwater?? Ask for it next time instead of paying 1.60 for some stupid bottled water they sell

just wondering...as a fellow despiser.. does anyone know why it is illegal to take a photo inside starbucks? I was looking for a local street dancer and there he was inside one at 125th and Lenox in Harlem (even harlem has been invaded). So I go in. He asks for a photo and they try to throw me out. Threaten to call the police. At first I only thought it was that one. But I tempted fate again and yes, thrown out. hmmmm.....

The Starbucks staff tend to get a little perplexed when two people enter the coffee shop and only one of them purchases a coffee. They look at you in the most peculiar manner. I suggest that the 'Starbucks dufus guide to serving customers' handbook should have some kind of reference to such a bizarre occurrence. 2 people , one order of coffee....mmm. In particular we would like to refer to the EC4 branch in London, UK bigUp all to all da joey SB crew

When is all this retail autoship crap going to stop? What a bunch of two-bit carnival prize crap!! All marked up way too much. Like those panel mugs you put pictures in. Man! Also, now that sbux owns Torafazione and Seattle's Best, are they going to find a better blend for their espresso? Hope so....current stuff is pure jive.

I have never been to a Starbucks, nor do I plan to in the near future. My interest was piqued recently by an article I ran across in USA Today (R) about this corporate giant attacking a really small quaint cafe (that doesnt just sell coffee) in Canada, named HaidaBucks. The story details how Starbucks' lawyer types sent a letter telling this small native owned cafe to "change your name, or else" because they feel that to use the term "Bucks" at the end of your name is copyright infringement. They also porport that this small establishment is confusing Starbucks customers. So let me see if I have this right. I am a potential Starbucks customer, I cant decide which store I am to get a fluffy fru-fru cafe latta, the store located in most shopping malls with all the nice tables and chairs readily available for sitting in, or should I pick the cafe that I can only reach if I had a herd of caribou, a pack of sled dogs and really intense desire to go out of country. By the way I live in Virginia (hint). That would be like Intel suing me because I use the term INTELligent to describe myself. Quite honestly I believe most corporate entities have always used their size and financial horsepower to bully the smaller guys or swallow them entirely. The excuse is always Business is like nature, bigger fish eat smaller fish etc... Well Mr Big Fish, be careful what you bite, because it looks like that little fish you just picked a fight with has some nasty barbs you may not like. And for all you PRO Starbucks types, granted you realize who butters your bread, but thinking outside the box is what made this country as great as it is. In colonial times you'd be labeled a "torry" and would be summarily tarred and feathered; learn to think independently and to look around you. Corporations in general use a lot of smoke and mirrors to blind the public to their less savory goings on.

Starbucks, AKA Big Daddy Warbucks. With their unique NorthWest blend roast (read over cooked and burnt cheap second quality green beans that most roasters would throw away). Starbucks, a testament to "Marketing" bitter cheap coffee, served fresh by underpaid unhappy workers. They wipe out the competition with bitter cheap coffee, highly overpriced espresso, and milk and whipped cream status symbols for the wanna be working class. Starbucks is everything that the poor sot wants, insipid glitch furnishings, overpriced semi classy swill, served in cups with continental names, and pawning off high quality equipment (which is re-branded mid range stuff sold at a Starbucks premium). What more can I say, lousy coffee served at overrated and exorbitant prices, they treat their employees like shit, they bust unions whenever possible, they don't believe in fair trade. It is corporate America at its worst, and that is why they are so successful. The answer: Wake up people, don't buy from them, don't fall for the glitch and kitsch, support your local shops and people. There are a million good coffee roasters out there that know what they are doing, you just have to look and then support business that treat their employees like people and their business partners as equals. That is all it would take to bring them to their knees.

After selling a "McMansion" (the WSJ's term for two story planned community beige homes) we are so sick of attitudes from spoiled children, who grew into obnoxious adults. That's the demographics of Starbucks. The people are not only self absorbed, the coffee tastes like mud and we find it dreadful. We go to Costco, pay a "real price" for coffee, and make it in our "Krups" coffee maker at home.  Hanging a Starbucks is not our idea of a constructive use of time.  If they only had a clue!

I also hate Starbucks I work in a local coffe shop in a colledge town.  The coffe sold in Starbuks is all free trade accept for one Blend brewed monthly.  I reacently read the words building relationships with coffe growers on a Starbuks cup.  The twisted Irony in this is the coffe you are drinking has the same history as any product produced by slave labor.  Starbuks recognition and buying power makes it nearly impossible for small buisness men like my employer to stay in buisness.
