http://www.abettercup.com/Espresso_Beverages.asp defines a Caffe' Latte (also Cafe' au Lait or simply Latte'). Espresso mixed with steamed milk - typically made with more milk than a cappuccino, with little or no froth on top. and Breve as an Espresso with steamed half & half or cream. That sounds complete to me.

The reason we ask you re: the breve order, is because quite a few people forget to say their complete order. Yes, it does happen. They may omit cappuuccino when they order a drink or the word latte for another. Asking the customer to confirm the order is just an effort to get the drink correct and to not have it be re-made causing you, the customer any delay. Trust me, we want you to have a good experience. A far as Mochas are concerned, that at Starbucks refers to a specific drink. Thus the word latte is superfluous. All of you are welcomed in my store. We do it well here. I might also add the Partners at the store are quite intelligent and to make fun of them is in rather poor taste. Regards, SBUX MGR

Mom, do they charge him extra for the half and half foam like they charge extra for breves vs. lattes?

And I say Venti because it means something. That is my whole point here!

Mom, you seem the type that tells your kid to just do what he is told because you do not have an answer, not good advice, not a good mom.

My Starbucks manager friend from Seattle wanted me to ask the rest of you lemmings to define Maccahiato...

Monkeyboy is another person who likes to degrade people. Calling names is just boorish behavior. Besides, didnt a gimlet go out of style in 1960? Get with the times! By the way you spelled Starbucks wrong. A. You are the customer and you are NOT always right B. You are a conceited person who thinks she (yeah I can tell)is above all the rest. C. You need to move on D. Breve is not a complete order Shall I continue????

Tell it: If Quad-Venti-Hazelnut-Breve is NOT a complete order, how come the Starbuttf**ks employees never ask me if I want a "mocha latte"? Or "Mocha Cappuccino"? When I order a Double-tall-skinny-mocha, they just write it on the cup. So it must not be a critical part of the order. Besides, and go take a picture of the menu board at the store where you work, you worthless shill, and show us all where it says "Breve Latte". Moron

Eastern Seaboard: When I go to a bar and order a gimlet, I expect gin because that is the proper way to make the drink. There is no need to say "gin gimlet". If they ask, I will point this out. This is not rude, or boorish--just accurate. I have NEVER had a proffessional bartender object. However, I find Starbuttf**ks employees have a real attitude problem. Holier-than-thou type of thing. They need to realize that:

A--They are there to serve ME. I'm the customer, and I'm right.

B--A Starbuttf**ks employee is basically a hairnet and a green apron removed from working at McDonalds.

Phnx Customer: You misspelled cognizant. And miserable. And "A dieu" is one word. Good thing they didn't have a spelling test requirement for your job a Starbuttf**ks! BTW--I'm really not worried about having you stand behind me in line. I'm worried about having you make my drink. Why don't you tell us all which store you work at, so we can be sure to avoid you? Moron.

For what it's worth my husband drinks breve cappuccino's. If that is what you need to tell them to get your drink secoffgrl, just say latte how damn hard is that? They make you say venti? So far as I know Starbucks is the only place with that size. A few posts back some person said they control the customers. Well this is a perfect example. I think you are moaning about some other event in you life. Move on. Oh and i'ts LATTE!

How many breve cappuccinos have you had to make? That is inane.

And if it were a mocha or white mocha that I wanted, I would specify that extra detail in my order

Why can you not figure that out from what I am asking? You want me to just do what you want and go on with my life. Please, take your own advice, take the order, don’t complicate it and go on with you life?

I looked up Caffe Latte or "latte" it originally came from Italy and is defined as steamed milk and a double shot of fine espresso.

That is all...it does not give you any more pertinent information about my order

Venti, Quad, Hazelnut, Breve? Actually that could refer to a mocha or a cappuccino or even a white mocha. Have you ever looked at the menu board at that place? It could be anything! Just say latte and go on with you life. Why do you have to make things hard for those kids behind the counter. They just want to get your drink right the first time! Silly you. Egg on your face! Or was it breve?

I have read way too many posts here. My conclusion is that boorish behavior rubs off on people. The people at Starbucks Coffee behind the counters put up with a lot of grief from customers. I have seen it first hand. Some people love to degrade people and for what, a cup of coffee? If some of you order the way you do, say at a bar, or restaurant, you would be asked to leave or be tossed out on your fanny! Rude people should all just go away and get out of the lives of people who love to go to certain places and just relax.

So what part don't you understand about Venti, Quad, Hazelnut, Breve? What does adding Latte to the end of it help you understand better?

SeaCoffeeGrl, It is funny that you mention that you can tell the patrons from the Starbucks people. You say it is because of their sentence structure and grammar? Well, I read your post and you seem to be not so aware of ideas being put forth in a cognisant manner. You are all over the place. A printer is a device and a bitch is a lady who does not have any respect for people trying to do their job. I think you are doing a great service by not going back to Starbucks. Now I wont have to stand behind you in a line while you make all of our lives misserable. A dieu!

Why do many of you retailers appear to have a big chip on your shoulder?

No wonder some of your customers treat you the way they do...you have some bad attitudes.

Here you are talking about spitting in drinks and being rude and expressing views about your customers that you berate them about saying to you.

If you want to work in a service industry then a provide service.

If you allow others to affect you and you feel degraded, get out.

I am in a service industry and love it. People have bad days, but that does not mean I let it affect me so I pass it along to others.

That lawyer was not putting anyone here down, nor making derogatory inherent value statements...he was challenging some of you on YOUR attitude at your job

Some of you (we all know who you are) are not smart enough to debate successfully with a lawyer...your point is not well taken and you do not represent the rest of us in service.

SeaCoffeeGrl--Another looser who does not know how to order! sigh! Did you know that breve only means milk(half and half). So if you know that you want a latte made with breve. WHY DON'T YOU JUST SAY IT? You just want to play games with the baristas. They want to get YOUR drink right and you just s*** on them. Well, missy we dont play that game at our store. Tell us what you want and we will make it cheerfully. But if you don't it's..."May I help the next person who is ready to order?" Why do we we get such idiot customers?? WHY WHY WHY?????

I have recently moved from Seattle to Phoenix and unfortunately the only coffee houses here are Starbucks (We just did not drink Starbucks in Seattle much, I preferred Tully's) Anyway, I order Venti, quad, soy, mochas and my husband drinks Venti, quad, hazelnut, breves. Every time I order my husband's drink they ask me if I meant a breve latte.? huh? When I correct them and say "not a latte, I want a breve" I get hassled every time (although I never got this at the Seattle, San Jose or the New York Starbucks) Trying to explain my order only flusters them and in true customer relations form they proceed to tell me I don’t know how to order my coffee. Some have even become visibly hostile. Breve it seems is not descriptive enough...I have to add latte or mocha to the end of my breve order. (I discovered later it was because there is no breve button on their cash register. Brilliant! But even after the breve button was added they still do it…not so brilliant) Use your brain; don't let these big companies enforce their stupid power trips on you. Here is an example: I am an MCSE (something that does not impress me much) Microsoft tried to tell me a printer was not really a printer. (Thank you, Magritte) I did manage to pass all the tests even with my individual printer beliefs and now I can successfully identify the idiot "Microsoft no thinkie for yourself cronies" when they correct me on a printer not being a printer but a "print device". This is how a now view the Starbucks "breve latte" class. Here is a quick chart for you folks in that class: latte= steamed milk (in respect to the decaf/no decaf woman below...you are right honey, we should be specific on our orders. Order latté; skinny, 2%, whole, etc breve=half & half (not a latte) quad=4 shots of coffee mocha is a chocolate flavor hazelnut is also a flavor...a golden syrup usually the bottle will say "hazelnut" for your edification. printer=that box like thing or your desk that spits out paper with the image of what is on your computer screen if you installed the appropriate printer software. I was so amazed reading the posts below because I can tell the patrons from the Starbucks employees, the employees cannot spell or form sentences properly. Cheers all, today is the last day I support your idiot-burnt bean-marketing machine.

We have partys, The other day our boss bought us 2 three foot heros. starbucks gives me benifits..which otherwise i would not have. Soon we are Goin to play paintball with another store. Its a lot of fun. For you people who work in a shitty store im sorry. Just go transfer to another store. And you still dont like working their find a new job, stop you bitching.

actually you both are right. a hot venti cup is 20 oz. and a cold venti cup is 24 oz. that's why you add an extra pump of syrup and espresso to the cold venti cups. :) and we have once again restored peace.

Actually in Italy the word VENTI means XLARGE and it's 24 ounces, you ignorant moron.
Name:chewbacca 00664

I just refuse to use the word "venti". I thought they made it up until I realized it was just Italian for twenty, for the twenty ounce size. Of course I've only really spent money there under extreme circumstances, like being stuck in an airport. And under such conditions I would insist on using the term "big a$$" rather than "venti".

I used to work for a coffee shop (independent not chain like starbucks) and it sucked ass. If Starbucks has your bosses around all the time then don't even look to apply there. We had someone watching over us like a hawk making sure we were especially nice to the customers, kept everything clean, were always busy..blah blah blah. Plus I gained about fifteen pounds working there. It sucked. I hate helping customers. And they never tipped me enough anywyas. I think you should see if the working environment is bearable before you apply.
