| Why is it that a common theme is being understaffed? Why is it that this company loves to see long lines of pissed off late people who love to take out their crap on us baristas? I had the pleasure of telling off this idiot who was asking "why is my drink taking so long?" Well, you ordered soy milk and you orderd it with honey, and I have to tear open the packets for you and mix it in, then you changed your order and said you wanted half - caff. So you see, asking me "why is my drink taking so long?" Is not a very intelligent question...I would expect more form a person who drinks soy milk! She did not like that...but it made my week! Does coffee attract stupid people? We get alot of them here. |

| okay.... they are just posters. get over it. there have been lots of controversial things in the news since 9/11. This is just another. It's isn't some huge under-ground scheme as some of the entries would have you believe. It's a senstive time for the nation, and *$, doing the right thing, took the posters down as to not offend people, and fix a mistake that was easily made. get over it. move on. |

| First tings firstI will not defend starbucks, but ask you to reconsider your own reasons for hating Starbucks... wait scratch that cause that is almost a non-issue to what I want to say. Of course companies like Starbucks receive their products from "third-world" countries, they are some of the best farmers in the world, that is their culture and their livelihood. Also the product there is superior, you can not get such a high quality coffee from just anywhere, Starbucks only uses Arabica Coffee beans, which are only grown at high altitudes, and temperatures. What is more is yes, they hire these countries for "cheap" labor. But now I ask you, do you know how these farmers feel about working for these extrordinarily low incomes. For many of them if any company was to pay its workers more than these low rates, anyone who worked for one of these companies would be constantly harrassed, and victimized by crime in their everyday life and only cause them more grief. Poverty is so rampant their, jealousy would only follow. For the most part these people are just happy to have jobs, and though malnurished by our standards, that is the way life is in their counties. However all of this is not entirely different from anyone in our own country who works their ass off for minimum wage.
Secondly, hate starbucks it is evil, I agree with that very much, but at least hate it for the right reasons, mine are simply personel aswell as my anti-universale pop-culturalism. I am not a bloody carbon copy. |

| NY, I DON'T HATE STARBUCKS. I JUST LOST ALL RESPECT FOR THEM. SORRY FOR THE EYE COMMENT. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO THEIR OPINION. I SHOULD SHOW U THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED FROM SB. IT WAS COLD. MY CO WORKER RECEIVED THE SAME RESPONSE. THAT TELLS ME THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP THEM IN BUSINESS. PULLING THE POSTERS WEREN'T ENOUGH. SOME ONE SHOULD HAVE APOLOGIZED FOR THEIR MISTAKE. I'M ALSO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, I'M CURIOUS WHAT THE FAMILY OF U'RE LOST FRIEND THOUGHT OF THE POSTER. |

| I am sorry you feel that way Bill. Just because I don't agree with what you see does not mean my eyes are shut! I still think its ridiculous to relate that poster to 9/11. Anyway, Starbucks pulled the poster because it bothered people. Now if they refused to do this I would have a problem with Starbucks, but they did pull it.
Hate is such a bad thing and all I see on this site is hate. |

| TO THE NEW YORKER. IT'S NOT THE STRAWS. IT'S THE WAY THE TWO CUPS ARE ARRANGED ON THE POSTER. IT'S THE DRAGONFLY HEADING TOWARDS THE CUPS. IT'S THE WORDS "COLLAPSE INTO COOL". I NEVER HATED STARBUCKS. I LIKED PAT MY BARISTA. I WAS A REGULAR CUSTOMER UNTIL THIS POSTER SURFACED. DO ME A FAVOR AND OPEN YOUR EYES. |

| My store has this problem with getting out on time. We're supposed to "pre-close" an hour and a half before we close. this is never done unless i do it and bear the brunt of my boss (A new one each night!) who either thinks It takes me too long, or thinks it should be done when we close. In the meantime, we get out 2 hours after we close and my Manager bitches at everyone because nothing gets done in time. I read about someone getting written up for a 10 minute late closing. I don't mind it because i don't have anything else to do and i plan for 2 hour closings. i've accepted the fact that we wil always take an hour and a half at the bare minimum to close. I know one assistant manager that's notorious for late closings. I'm only a barista so i'm not gonna speak out against this one. For the last 2-3 months, I've swept and mopped the lobby, changed all the garbages, and cleaned and re-stocked the bathroom before doing dishes and re-stocking the cups and lids and re-filling att eh milk and whip cream. dishes aren't even a delegated responsibility anymore. Wehn i started working, they easily took 2-3 hours to do (that includes putting them away). Now, the policy is everyone does the dishes which means no one does the dishes which means that whoever is done with their job has to wash the mountain of dishes. I try to get a few done when i'm closing and there's nothing to do out front, but as soon as i go to the back, 50 customers line up out the door and the 2-4 baristas out front need my help because "so and so decided not to take a till tonight" or "Whatshis/hername doesn't know bar yet". That's another thing i hate. I worked in my store for almost 3 years and only got officially certified for bar last week because our DM bitched at us get the staff certified. in the meantime, i learned bar and was training several new people on bar all this time! We don't even do the bar according to standards as a store! We re-steam milk 2-3 times a night and use jugs that have sat out since 10AM at 8PM and later! On top of this, we have our "bar elite". They have this need to take over the bar and use it the whole time so they don't get bothered for the rest of their shift with other stuff. Then they have the nerve to complain that I'M slow! How do I get faster when you hog the bar all day and night!?! They always assign me lobby! I either get Lobby or Pastry case which includes Lobby! The bar elite always get bar to close! I've closed bar several times and they still say i'm untrained! I closed bar for one of my assistant managers and she said i did fine and it was done on time, but then the next week i get assigned bar and the shift takes it away and give me lobby again and then tells me I wasn't trained on bar! Next night, I'm training a new person on bar and we still did a good job! My next rant is hours! I've goteen zero "official" hours in the last 2 weeks! They aren't getting rid of me, i spoke to my manager! That's scheduled hours. Now, That doesn't mean i have nothing to do for 2 weeks. instead, i get called at any time durring the day to fill in shifts that someone decided they didn't want, 10 minutes before the shift starts! My time is not my own! I've gotten called while I was at school to work someone's shift! I appreciate helping people out, but i have a life too you know! |

| I put in a complaint at Starbucks about Hospital Employees who are drooling lunatics going there. They leer at people and are very nasty people. I said they should go to their own cafeteria. I said they should be told to leave and go elsewhere.
Then a couple days ago I was having a coffee at Starbucks and some young guy my age was having a coffee and then some old woman got on her phone right in front of him and started screaming about his c-ck.
He hunched into himself and then left.
Then about 2 minutes later the manager of Starbucks some old ugly Arabic guy came out and mocked him and did the same thing stood right in front of him on his phone and then went in glaring at me.
I left. All young people left Starbucks.
He then proceded to follow me home and even though he was on my property like somebody else said about it he stared in my window while I was on the computer and stared really hard at my eye sideways. I told him to get the f-ck out of here NOW . My eye then swelled up.
I think I'm going to take them to court because I put in a formal complaint and all the manager did was harrass me and then follow me home like some psychopath.IS ONE.
I'v asked people from all over North America to put in a complaint about the Davie St. Starbucks in Vancouver CANADA. And if you get the chance PUT IN A COMPLAINT about the Davie St. Starbucks in Vancouver CANADA.
To get the drooling lunatics out of there and to get him fired.
Thank you. |

| when it started, i'm sure that the coffee was excellent, but over the years the coffee has declined, and it has lost its focus from being a coffee shop to being a fast food shop. 50% of its sales are of the frapacinos, and that isn't even real coffee. the most important thing to them is that their stocks look good. |

| holy coffee batman, what a load of crap! in all my life I never imagined anyone would take the time to talk shyte about a coffee shop like it was truly evil - evil?? u mean like corrupt thieving politicians or businesses that chop down rain-forests, or perverts that prey on young children? Last time I was in a Starbucks, I don't remember seeing anyone being horse-whipped and shackled before being dragged screaming into the shop and having their money stolen from them. What is it about successful chains that gets so many people upset? Is it because they are from the US & ordinary people like to go there? If they didn't make a product that people liked, they wouldn't last - so what if its bland? so what if its generic? geez, so is rice.. Rail against the blandness and lack of imagination (or is it lack of 'culture') that makes them a success, but dont blame the business for making money on it. |

| Stickey Bomb – well then to take your assumption to the next level one could then project that the person who complained about the SB ad was an SB operative; with the sole objective of making a big stink about this campaign.
Give me a break.

| Starbucks knew what they were doing. Every move that any global company makes has a strategic purpose. The latest "Collapse into Cool" adds were to get people pissed off and to get Starbucks back in the news. No matter what side of the argument you are on, it still got you to talk about Starbucks and that's what they wanted. As far as I'm concerned, I never spent any money there and never will. |

| To Billy and Angry New Yorker. I too lost someone on 9/11, but to think that 2 straws represent the towers is rediculous. My young son the other day gave me the piece sign. Should I punish him and tell him that the two fingers will remind people of the trade towers?? Come on folks. Disliking Starbucks for putting local coffee shops out of biz or mis treating of employees I can understand but for 2 straws!!!!!!!!!!! Really |

| to jam. first of all, starbucks is pretty evil. i agree, it is not as evil as mcdonalds, nothing is that evil, but it is the next step down. second of all, there is absolutely nothing wrong with bitching and moaning about starbucks on this site. it is fun, entertaining, and it is a great place to share opinions. not to mention that a lot of the people who talk on this site work for the company and absolutely hate it, but they can't quit becuase the accumulation of 2% raises means that they make more than they would in a starting position anywhere else, and they have rent to pay. plus they get benefits as starbucks employees. and sbux may not offend and infringe on the civil liberties of americans outright, but they do so subliminally. think aboutr it, caffiene is a legal drug, and people are addicted to it in masses. starbucks holds a monopoly on the coffee shop industry, so therefore it controls peoples minds. i don't know about you but i think that is some serious infringement on my liberty. ( i just quit working there, and i only drink their coffee if one of my ex coworkers gives it to me for free) |

| I LOST 61 COWORKERS IN THE WTC. I WAS LUCKY TO ESCAPE MYSELF. I WENT TO STARBUCKS EVERY MORNING BEFORE WORK FOR A VENTI. I SAW THE POSTER LAST TUESDAY. NOW THEY CAN GO TO HELL. HAVEN'T BEEN THERE SINCE. I SENT THEM AN E MAIL AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS ALL BULLSHIT. PLUS IT WAS MORE PROMO THAN APOLOGY. YOU CAN'T TELL ME THE CREATER OF THAT POSTER DIDN'T HAVE WTC IN MIND. MANY ADVERTISER'S HAVE HIDDEN MESSAGES IN THEIR ADS. THIS ONE WASN'T FUNNY. IF THE NEW YORKER COULDN'T SEE THE SIMILARITY THAN I SUGGEST HE GET HIS EYES CHECKED. |

| Yeah I'm not a big fan of Starbucks, nor am I a fan of their suspicious business practices. However, last time I looked at the political positioning of North America it represents a free, open and highly competitive commercially driven market place. Do I particularly like Starbucks - nope.
I especially don’t like the overwhelming majority of their customers whom if it weren’t for Starbucks would still be drinking their sh**ty cup of Maxwell house instant coffee, These Starbucks customers are something else – “can I have my coffee extra hot?” – even asking for it to be a particular temperature. The best one yet, I’m in line and in front of me this, this imbecile orders an Americano with decaf coffee – what a s**t head.
Now then, perhaps rather than venting all frustrations out on Starbucks perhaps some of the attention should be focused on the landlords who for whatever reason decide to dramatically increase the rent to (long-time) tenants OR refuse to extend a lease offering to a tenant thus, allowing Starbucks to move right in.
Besides, Starbucks is not the great evil say as McDonalds (or Walmart) is. That’s evil. Better yet people reading this board should expand beyond Starbucks and read up on threats to freedom of speech and civil liberties.
Fight the good fight. |

I don't know how anyone even knows what the hell they are ordering. They are everywhere. I am so sick of seeing them. In the town I live in the only coffee place is...you guessed it Starcrooks. I wish they would go away. Real friends don't let you buy starbucks. |

| I am sorry to the rest of you, but I truly enjoy Starbucks coffee. The stores that I frequent the employees are always pleasant. They are always smiling and happy. As a corporation they are no different then most. They do give there employees free pounds of coffee each week. MacD's and Bking make there employees purchase what they eat. No discounts. They offer stock to the employees at lower then market rates. Better then other companies. I guess maybe they are alittle better then most companies. Oh well. I do appreciate the employees, you guys and gals are great. Thanks! |

| I work at a Starbucks in Hawaii, my manager is great, the people I work with are cool, the coffee is fantastic(yeah thats right...FANTASTIC).The only problem is we are short staffed. Oh, there are plenty of people to work but our manager has to keep her labor hours at a specific level. Do the math, one partner at $7.00 an hour for 4 hours is $28.00. Our lines are so long that I guarantee that we loose more money than that from customers who cant wait in line. The people in the main office just dont get it! Add more staff and you will make more money. Why is that so hard to figure out?
Frappuccino's. God I hate them. We invented the mocha coconut one here in Hawaii and now it has hit the mainland U.S. I swear you Baristas on the mainland would kill us here if you new that. 8 steps to make the damn thing. Arrgghh! And we always stress speed of service. Get real!
But now the best part...stupid customers. We got a S***load of em here in Hawaii. Rude F***'s who think you dont know crap because you work at a Starbucks. "I want a sleeeeeeeeve!" "I wanted it iiiiiiiiiiiiced!" "I wanted it 200 degrees with caramel and 2 sweet and lows with dense foam and it better be good like the other store makes them" "what do you mean you can't take a Starbucks card?" (we dont take them here. God only knows why.(stupid)
Two words for all you rude customers is you can all go F*** yourselves and take you power trip someplace else! The next customer that rags on me is going to get a mouthful. I wont take this crap from them ANYMORE! |
