Hi! I had a question: Does anyone have a t-shirt or mug with the Starbucks logo parody (consumer whore) they'd like to sell? If so please email me dancingmelodrama@yahoo.co.uk

To: Monkey's Oh jeez! Get real! Its the public that supports Starbucks! If they didn't, Starbucks wouldnt be around. Paying off landlords or not! I would love to see some articles or validation of your statement though.

Hi!!! Interesting news. Starbucks is doing two good things for once. One the Starbucks Siren is being put on materials and stores in the oppresive country of Saudi Arabia. The reason why is was taken off was because women are oppressed by the government there. Hopefully this may lead to women gaining more rights. Second Starbucks is expanding into southern communist China. This is very good because China still does not respect basic human rights such as freedom of religion and to form other political parties other than the dominant communist party. Hopefully the cultural imperialistic ways of Starbucks will assist in destabilizing the communist government of China. At least Starbucks is working to make this world a better place. NOT!

That is an interesting point, but it is simply not true. Starbucks does things like underhanded things like pay landlords not to renew leases for small coffee shops so that they can move into the space. The deep pockets of the copany hae enabled them to do some rather shady things to ensure their advantage. Nice try though, if only the wolrld were as simple as you made it to be, it would be so pleasant.

I keep reading angry posts directed at Starbucks for putting locally owned coffee shops out of business. Well folks Starbucks does not put them out of business its the customers such as you and me that put them out of business. If Starbucks coffee was half as bad as alot of the posts state, then the local coffee houses wouldn't go out of business!

In regards to th name game, wouldn't it be more comfortable to ask customers for either their name OR just their initials if that makes them more comfortable. Customers get so suspicious when you ask for their name. It's not like you could clear out their bank account just by knowing their name is Dave. You just want to make sure they get the right drink. Unless you're name game is different than why we do it. We ask for it during rushs when people order bar drinks so they get the right order. It's amazing how someone will order a short cappuccino and mistake it for a venti caramel frappuccino. Silly, they don't look anything alike. On the same hand, it's not like we offer Drink Calling 101 for the customers. Maybe we should.

Right on-- glad I'm not the only one. My immense distaste for Starbuck's began a couple of years ago when it edged out a couple of cute, quirky, locally owned cafes in Bloomington, IN, near home. Go awaaaaaaay you megacorporative yuckiness!!

Concerning the use of Fair Trade coffee, it is not used at all by Starbucks Coffee International for some unknown probably insidious reason. I don't have to play the name game but I do call the customers I like by their names, sometimes even free drinks. Fair Trade Coffee is even placed very low on the rack so people aren't able to see it. It is unforunate that Starbucks works to undermine humane treatment of coffee workers. I pray that they will see the injustice that they do every day. Starbucks is a problem that should be fixed because many of the people there are basically nice people however some of the business practices are completely unethical.

RE: Name Game & Fair Trade ...about the name game, yes it can be stupid...but some customers are having fun with it, I love it when "Charlie Manson" shows up on a cup. Anyway, the point is to make us sound personal with the customer to increase our legendary service score on snaps...and about fair trade, the reason it is currently not on the COD calendar is because of the Coffee of the Week promotion, but other than that every starbucks is suppossed to brew it at least once a month, i think on the 15th or something, it's in an email from corporate, check your email binder or ask your dm, oh to the partner who's manager wont let you take saturday & sunday off, change your availability for religiuos reasons, if that doesn't work, go to your dm or your regional HR manager, trust me you won't be fired, more than likely your mgr will get in trouble before you do

We don't even have Fair Trade coffee here at all. And we do not have to ask customers for names which is good as most of them are VERY rude. It is actually the American customers who tend to be most friendly, as long as they don't complain about something that Starbucks in the states has that the ones in the UK don't serve, like cider or breve. And I agree with that whole Starbucks is taking over the world thing. I mean just look around Leicester Square, you go into one Starbucks and can almost see two more out of the window.

Yeah ask the name always but I do understand about the foreginers name. But for me, my normal greeting sounds like a recording, I always say "Welcome to Starbucks, hi how are you doing, get the order, do you want whip cream with that, then your total is $, then thank you and have a great day and hope you visit us again soon" And my response is always is excellent when people ask how I am doing ,then I do how you doing?

I was wondering, I'm in a north USA SB, are any other partners out there doing the stupid "name-game" where you ask the customer their name, they get offended because, "what do you need my name for? it's just (bad) coffee." Then when you call the name, no one at the bar hears it over the grinder, so you shout it like five times until they do, then it's some name from a foreign country, and you don't want to offend the customer but you end up mispronouncing it and embarrassing them further, the whole time you're slowing the bar down and getting thirty drinks backed up on it, making things 100 times worse, then you never see that customer again ... anyone else doing that? what do you think of it if you're doing it...

I hate Starbucks!! In fact I feel so strongly oppossed to this company that I chose this subject as the topic of my final presentation for a class I am currently enrolled in. The topic is: Why Dunkin Donuts is better than Starbucks. I personally love Dunkin Donuts and feel that the Starbuck snobs are trying to over take it!

Starbucks does not brew Fair Trade as COD. Not only that but partners can not take it as there mark out. They will do Fair trade in a french press and then make you pay more.

To: owner of the site. I work in a Starbucks that does brew fair trade coffee. In fact I have gone into a few different stores and always was able to order a cup of fair trade, so I guess they brew it as well. "They symbolize the worst of the homogenous corporate landscape architecture" Lets add KMart, Wal-Mart, Sears, Burger King, Wendy's etc etc etc. I wish we could turn the clock back to the 1800's when life was simple.
