The other night we bit the bullet and went to the starbucks drive-thru to save time. The service was friendly, but when we were offered a cardboard carrier for 2 drinks i had to laugh. The whole speaking into the order box thing and reaching for my beverage from my car via a window complete with overhang for those rainy days was ridiculously funny to me, considering all the trouble this corp. seems to go to to seem elevated and stylish. We now call it "Stardonalds" or "McBucks"

Yeah, apparently the name starbucks translated into German is WALMART. An ideal establishment for those that would fancy taking their date to eat a $40 sandwich and complain that its too cheap.

Dude, Love your website, I HATE THEM TOO! Starbucks, or Starshmucks, are so full of themselves. They actually think they are changing cultural habits, while they are just selling overpriced, burnt, bitter coffee for status deprived people....Tasting tests show that their coffee is not good, simple and true! Being socially responsible- selling "fair trade" coffee - is not only their domain, even Dunkin Donuts sells "fair trade". Keep spreading the word.

For Courtney in San Diego: Starbucks bought out Diedrich's a few days ago and most stores will be closing by December of this year. Try 976 in Pacific Beach a great Coffee house. Also if any one is near Seal Beach in North Orange County Javatinis is amazing. They roast their beans in house daily. http://www.javatinis.com

I just happened to cross this site for the first time eventhough I\'d been with the company for 4 years! Go figure. Let me say this. I WAS a shift till July 27, 2006. I was the last of the veterans at this store & have seen 5 different bosses come trapsing through. This last boss at my Danville, CA store really took the cake! She \"let me go\" because my Family Leave paperwork wasn\'t completed by my doctor!!!!.......Sure, she & I got along like SPAM & chocoalte pudding, but really! So, after putting in the longest amount of time there than anyone (including my boss) & not having enough hours for benefits, I was let go on a trumped up accusation! My boss actually told me that I needed to NOT engage the customers as much, because we had a quota to fill!!! ....Translation: Stop talking to and caring about the customers, because they don\'t matter, only making money does!! Thing is, I had an AMAZING relationship with all the customers. I really did know either names or drinks or both! I got along very well with the entire staff at my store. I trained all of them & was taken aback & flattered at the same time when they all told me that they learned more from me than our ASM or SM. I\'m not saddened at leaving. It was a long time coming. I never really LIKED my job, as it was only ever meant to be a stepping stone after I lost my tech-field job. It\'s not like I ever lived much above poverty level with the measly paycheque anyway! In the last couple of years of my employment, I hated the self-ritious-ego-driven-money-hungry-power-thirsty-better-than-thou-fake-as-hell-wish-I-had-a-personality-will-demean-others-at-their-own-expense BOSSES!!!!!!!!! They all made my life a living HELL! So even though I\'m still looking for a job, I\'m much happier than when I was with the BUX! Besides, for those of you in California, you know the way of the Peete's Coffee & Tea, right?...1 Word: AMAZING!!! (I\'ll get of my soap box now...thanks for listening)

I recently came across this site and was intrigued. Reading through the posts I have to say I agree with most of them. I am a partner and have seen my fair share of brainwashing and just plain idiotic business, but reading through posts I am seeing people supporting Dunkin Donuts. I have also been a employee of Dunkin Donuts and left there to go to starbucks. In my eyes just trading one evil for another. Dunkin Donuts was awful to work for. I got one ten minute break for working an eight hour shift, its a franchise so you are completely at the whim of the owner and my owner was a complete jackass. They had lists of all of the items employees were not allowed to eat. Basically we were allowed the coffee and thats it. But really I wouldn't eat any of that anyways because most of the food is bad. When the meats got old they would just change the date incase the health inspector came, who cares about teh actual health of the customers. It was only about money. I don't really care, and I am certainly not supporting Starbucks I am a supporter of small independently owned businesses, I just wanted to say that dissing Starbucks and supporting Dunkin Donuts over Starbucks is ridiculous. They treat the employees mediocre at starbucks but compared to what I experience at Dunkin Donuts us Starbucks barista's are treated like royalty.

Courtney, you are very much in luck being in San Diego. There are two locations for Hawaii's Java Kai in San Diego, one in Del Mar and the other in Poway in the Sabre Springs area. The coffees and espresso drinks are outstanding and worth the drive. The ice blended drinks are referred to as "Anu" drinks, Anu means cold in Hawaiian. They use real espresso, half and half, powder and syrup. I know all this because I use to own one here in Los Angeles and I still make them everyday at home. Go to www.javakai.com for their exact locations. Both locations and the founders are all great family oriented people.

Oh my! I am glad I found your website, I needed a good laugh! I love to push buttons as well. To see someone get "flustered" just makes me laugh. Then it seems correct grammar and spelling fly right out the window. That's probably why they work at Starbucks, they are not smart enough for any other job apparently. What do you think?

Had a great time in Australia and never once had a bad coffee; even the worst is far better than the stale, oversteamed, tasteless dreck that 5 bucks puts out with a wilted smile

Oh yes, I can\'t drink most Starbuck\'s coffee...it\'s so acidic I get sick to my stomach. I am so upset that Starbuck\'s is buying out the Deitrich\'s in my town. What can we do?

buddha does not hate starbucks. buddha likes good coffee, responsible business, and people who take responsibility for WHERE THEIR MONEY GOES. So, buddha does not buy coffee from starbucks. buddha buys fair trade coffe, shops at the local produce market (no, Whole Foods does not count, sucker!), buys from small business, and does not drive. buddha does not listen to any of starbucks marketing propaganda, or to any other greedy, unresponsible corporations. buddha sees with his own eyes, when starbucks opens ANOTHER cafe next to an already successfull cafe, that starbucks is for morons. buddha tastes with his own tongue the AWEFUL product starbucks makes. buddha sees with his own eyes the poor and suffering people in the coffee industry, who suffer because of companies like starbucks and folgers. yes, if you drink starbucks, you might as well just go by folgers and make it yourself. but buddha knows how lazy you Americans have become and how TV, Media, and starbucks has replaced your brains. buddha does not hate starbucks. buddha is just sad for YOU! buddha dances in the mouth of the dragon while you burn.

Besides the rediculous prices for their products, I just can't stand the taste. I have a favorite local coffee shop by my work and always order a frozen, blended mocha. Well, I decided to check out the Starbucks across the street one day and ordered exactly the same thing. It tasted like sour milk and burned coffee beans. Yuck. After having a friend (loyal Starbucks freak) taste it, she said that's what those always taste like from Starbucks. I will never go to starbucks again.

Tell Starbuck Phils. to convert while there is still time and save the investment. Some fellows didnt study the culture of the Filipinos b4 opening they thought they can dulicate the successin USA, but the filipinos with acup of coffee will idle inside for hours enjoying the AC while doing their homework, studying, reading abook, as an qffice, etc. And of course its full but the cash register is empty.Convert to a more profitable franchise.

There was a fire directly behind a Starbucks this am. One of the people losing their home came to the Starbucks store when my son was there asking for something to drink. They offered hot water. My son left $50 to buy coffee for those in need.

I live in San Diego and I love iced/blended coffee drinks. Where else can I go besides the 'bucks? I'd rather not support them but so far I can't find a replacement. I live in downtown, btw, if that helps. I tried Diedrich's in Hillcrest for awhile but it didn't really float my boat.

Hey Christina, I am glad to know that you got that $$. I believe you earned it. I am so glad to work in a manufacturing environment and not in food service or retail. Nothing against those who do it! Honestly, that type of service work (for poor managers) just sucked the life out of me. And you know, now that I read these posts, I understand why the baristas always gave me that insincere, false-friendly b.s. when I went in for my 'tall drip'. The 'partners' are conditioned and trained that way, it's a little like a cult. God for you that you got out! Oh, and don't drink the purple kool-aid, people!

In a word - it should be named \"Star Burnt\". They over roast their coffee to the point that it\'s bitter. I\'ve also heard that they infuse the coffee with caffine to further enhance the additive properties (thus keeping the revenues coming). It split the office when they went to Starburnt coffee and eventually they had to offer an alternative. Some of us have set up our own coffee pots to brew real, drinkable coffee. Wish to God I\'d bought stock in them 10 years ago.

I work for Starbucks as a shift supervisor, and another barista I work with told me about this site...i am SOOO glad that she did. This is the perfect place for me to vent!!! I despise my manager, he is the biggest jerk you will ever meet. Firstly, he shows SOO much favourtism it's unbelieveable. My friend (who works with me) gave her sister her partner discount on a drink, and my manager found out and he wrote her up!! (apparatnly you can only do it when you are on break). Then this psycho other shift supervisor (whom my manager LOVES) rang thru a girls drink as a partner beverage (free drink) when she wasn't even working!! I was the manager on duty at the time and I didn't want it to come back to bite me in the @$$, so I told my manager about it, AND SHE DIDN'T GET IN ANY TROUBLE!! So I called partner resources (third party that listens to you bitch about how much you hate your job and foreards it to human resources) to complain about my manager, and it's been 8 weeks and I haven't heard of anything being resolved. Let's just say I am in the process of finding another job. My manager is racist (he favours people of his nationality, and only hires people of his naitonality...i was hired by another manager). So much for that respect and dignity guideline....

As a liberal looser I take every opportunity that I can find to blasphemy the good name of Starbucks. Thank you for creating this site so I may know that I am not alone in my everlasting distaste for all that is generic and mass produced in our society. Starbucks is the coffee equivalent of McDonald's. It will fill your belly, but don't try to tell me that it is gourmet coffee.
